Sunset Catamaran Cruise Malta: Prices & What to Expect
In July and August the middle of the day on a boat is hot, bright and busy. The evening is the opposite: the light goes gold over the cliffs, the wind drops, most day boats have gone home and the water is still warm from the afternoon.
A private sunset charter lasts two to four hours and the price is for the whole boat — not a seat on someone else's cruise.
What a sunset charter costs
These are the evening prices, skipper and fuel included, for the entire boat:

How the evening usually goes
You board at Roland Marina in Ta' Xbiex or at Sliema and head out along the coast with the skipper. Most groups stop to swim while the sun is still up, then stay on deck for the sunset itself on the way back. Snorkelling gear and a paddleboard are on board, and so is the sound system — the playlist is yours.
What to bring
- •A light layer for the way back — it cools down on the water once the sun drops
- •Your own food and drinks, or add catering when you book
- •A towel and swimwear; there are swimming stops on most evening charters
- •A phone or camera — the cliffs at golden hour are the reason people book this
Sunset or full day?
A full day (about 10:00 to 18:00) is the one to pick if you want to reach Comino and the Blue Lagoon, swim in several bays and make a proper day of it. The sunset charter costs roughly half and suits couples, small groups and anyone who would rather have one memorable evening than a whole day at sea.
Both include the skipper, fuel, snorkelling gear and paddleboard. Both are yours privately, and on both the deposit comes back if the weather cancels.
