St Thomas Bay & Marsaskala: Water Activities Guide 2026

Marsaskala is the southeast's quiet fishing-town answer to the crowded northern resorts — and St Thomas Bay (South Eastern Region, Marsaskala) is its watersports base. Everything below departs from the same spot and can be booked online with live availability.

Budget-friendly: kayaks and paddleboards

The bay is sheltered and calm — ideal for first-timers.

  • Single kayak — from €8/hour (age 16+)
  • Double kayak — from €15/hour
  • Stand-up paddleboard (SUP) — from €10/hour (age 16+)

Self-drive boats — no licence needed

The Hydra 530 self-drive boat starts at €120 for 2 hours (driver 18+, no licence required) and goes up to €360 for a full 7-hour day — explore the southeast coast at your own pace.

Prefer to sit back? The 28ft open boat runs skippered south-coast trips from €180 (2 hours) up to a full 8-hour day at €530.

Dolphin spotting

The 1-hour dolphin spotting trip (€120) heads out from the same bay. Sightings can never be guaranteed — they're wild animals — but over 85% of tours do spot them.

And the stars of the bay

St Thomas Bay is also home to the jet ski fleet (from €25) and the famous Fiat 500 Boat (from €55) — the two bookings that fill up fastest in summer.
